Canadian War Museum
When we were in Ottawa, we told the kids (4 teenagers) that we were going to visit one museum but they could pick which one. They all wanted to go to the Canadian War Museum, and see Hitler's car. This is a picture of it.
I am not sure how Canada got the car, but the black armoured Mercedes Benz limousine, which Hitler used as a parade car, is on display in the Forged in Fire Gallery. This covers the period of 1931 to 1945.
The museum's permanent Exhibition covers the entire history of Canada. It even has a small gallery on battles before 1885 that effected the shaping of Canada. To cover all of the exhibits, you have to walk over 2 km (1.2 miles), so there is a lot of ground to cover. The kids enjoyed it, and hopefully learned something, and the adults as well. Three of the adults with us are new Canadians so this helped them to understand some of the history of a great country.
